Science Meets Tradition

Notice-margastha research foundation

Margastha Research Foundation (Howrah), in collaboration with Global Achievement Trust (West Singhbhum), announces a 3-Day Environmental Awareness & Eco-Protection Program at Pandrasali Village. The initiative blends scientific learning with traditional ecological wisdom to empower the local Ho tribal community toward sustainable living.

Date: 6th – 8th September 2025

Venue: Pandrasali Village, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand

Program Highlights

🌱 Tree Plantation Drive
Over 100 indigenous trees (Sal, Mango, Amla, etc.) will be planted at the Biodiversity Park. Supported by the Forest Department, with saplings provided by DFO Aditya Narayan.

📚 Herbarium Techniques Workshop
Conducted by botanist Priyanka Hazra, students of Ayub Academy will learn plant collection, preservation, and documentation — combining scientific methods with local ecological wisdom.

🦋 Butterfly Conservation Session
Entomologist Sutrishna Halder will guide students through butterfly lifecycles, ecological roles, and field observations in Bhagbila Valley, assisted by local leaders.

Director Ranjan Shaw highlights that lasting environmental education grows only when rooted in community culture. The Foundation plans to expand the initiative across Eastern India through biodiversity clubs, mobile nature labs, and experiential field programs.

The event is recognized as a successful model of integrating scientific knowledge with traditional practices, receiving enthusiastic support from villagers and the Ho tribal community.
